He is survived by: his wife Diana Ater (Clemens); his children, Jennifer Powell (Brian) of Pigeon Forge, John David Ater (Katie) of Lexington, Jaime Lea Ater of Brilliant and Jill Lanette Ater of Brilliant, Ohio; and his grandchildren, Michael O'Neill Powell, Emily Grace Powell, Layton John Ater, Grayden Ross Ater and Adelynn Poppi Ater. He is also survived by many sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family is kindly asking for monetary donations to be made to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
