He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Denver Piatt and Dora Vess Piatt; his wife Muriel Hart Piatt; his brothers, Denzil, Edwin "Eddie" and Gary Piatt; and his sisters-in-law, Vivian Piatt and Marsha Piatt.

He is survived by: his children, Thomas Piatt (Rhonda) of Woodsfield, David Piatt of Lodi, Ohio and Evelyn I. Park of St. Petersburg, Florida; his brother Ronald Piatt of Mantua, Ohio; and his grandchildren, Kyle Piatt, Korey Piatt, Nick Piatt, Angie Munn and Austin Nixon. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
