He was predeceased by: his parents, George Franklin Russell and Cora Catherine White Russell; his wife Helen Jane Powell Russell; his daughter Janet L. Russell; his brothers, Albert "Bud" Russell, Jack Longwell, Roy Longwell, Pete West and Jimmie Longwell; his sons-in-law, Rex McConnell, John Mahoney, Larry Schaub and Norman Bowman; and his sisters, Dorothy Gibson and Lucille Alth.
He is survived by: his children, Catherine Mae Roberts (Larry) of Littleton, Betty Jean Schaub of Lewisville, Linda Sue McConnell of Stafford, Pam Gerhand (Mike) of Spotsylvania, Virginia, Walter Russell (Linda) of Woodsfield and Richard Ray Russell (Kathy) of Woodsfield, Ohio; and his foster children, Sissy, Joey and Penny. He is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren; fifty-one great-grandchildren; fourteen great-great-grandchildren; several loving nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Watters Funeral Home (37501 OH-78, Woodsfield, OH 43793). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 12:30 PM at the same location.
