He was predeceased by: his siblings, Rosalie Clemson and Roger Cottrell. He is survived by: his sons, Shawn (Amanda Cottrell) of Jenison, MI and Richard Cottrell of Rittman; his grandchildren, Olivia, Sabastian, Anthony, Elijah and Hayden; his siblings, Ray (Pam Cottrell), Cecil Gene (Robyn Cottrell), Joseph (Pennyann Cottrell), David (Brandy Workman), Edward (Crystal Cottrell) and Angela; and his siblings-in-law, Denver Jarvis of Seville and Connie Cottrell of Rittman. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
