He is survived by: his son Thomas "Tom" Lavaco (Kelly) of Barberton; his grandson Reese; and his sisters, Judy Jones (Dick) of Wadsworth and Kathleen Cardinal (Tony) of Rittman. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Memorials in honor of Tom may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
