He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Johnson and Gerthe Johnson (Trent); his wife Norma Lehman; his children, Matthew, Jerry Johnson and Michele Johnson; his former wife Jani Johnson; and his siblings, Howard Johnson and Norma Gibson.
He is survived by: his children, Bobby Johnson (Annette) of Wren, Ohio, Elizabeth McVittie (Nicholas) of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Kristell Dunn (Jason) of Van Wert, Ohio; and his grandchildren, Nick Johnson (April), Tyler Johnson (Tyler Leann), Caleb Johnson (Kaylee), Bobby Johnson, Michelle Allison (Cole), Elyssa Moore (Jullian), Shelbi Hess, Jaiden Johnson, Kailyn Johnson, Jordyn Jewell, Jaycee Kline, Cullen Dunn and Kallee Dunn. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
