He was predeceased by: his father Sylvester Sr. Thurston; and his siblings, Sylvester Thurston, Jr., Burnett Thurston and Betty Thurston. He is survived by: his mother Sarah McQuarter Thurston of Youngstown; and his brothers, Calvin of Youngstown, Johnny of Youngstown and Robert of Campbell.
