He is survived by: his children, Kimona Anderson (Mona) and Edward Gowdy (Precious); his grandchildren, Donrico Stoutmire Jr., Dylen Dawson, Imani Gowdy and Ebraejah Gowdy; his great grandchild Donrico Stoutmire III; and his siblings, Lula Mae Scott, Lula Belle Green, Mary Louise Smith, William "Styme" Gowdy (Marie A.) and Curtis Lee Gowdy. He is also survived by nephews and nieces.
