He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert K. Schanz and Mildred E. Samuels Schanz; his son Edward John Schanz; his siblings, LuAnn Schanz and Don Schanz; and his sister-in-law Cheryl Schanz.
He is survived by: his wife Joann Lucarell Schanz; his son Rick Schanz (Teresa) of Lordstown; his grandchildren, Stephanie Woolery (Ted), Kristopher Schanz, Ross Schanz, Courtney Reppy (Chris), Patrick Schanz (Karli), Michael Dowdell, Christina Dowdell and Sarah Warburton; his great grandchildren, Eden, Zoey Grace and Ryan; and his sister Maryann Nanosky of Austintown.
