He was predeceased by: his parents, Emmitt Sr. Gunn and Ola Mae Phillips Gunn; his wife Jackie; and his siblings, Willie Mae Houston, Lela Jackson, Cornelia Gunn and Dollie Ellis.
He is survived by: his sister Nancy Ruth Houston of Roanoke; his close friend Ernestine Farris; and his daughter Nicole B. of Campbell. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
