We are sad to announce that, on May 7, 2025, at the age of 89, George J. Janis of Youngstown, Ohio passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Janis and Mary Kay Janis (Zagorski); his wife Donna L. Janis (Hanlon); his children, Victoria L. Baker, Sandra L. Brainard and George J. Janis Jr.; his grandson George Baker; his siblings, Edward Janis, Richard Janis, Jean Bolyne and Mary Byers; and his brothers-in-law, Phil Burrows, Donald Foltz, Ralph Sanchez, Vern Byers and Lou Bolyne.
He is survived by: his children, Karen L. Mathis (Jeffrey) of Chino Valley, AZ and Joseph G. Janis (Melissa) of Youngstown, OH; his grandchildren, Mike Baker (Christy), Mathew Baker, Robert Brainard III, Janis L. Antone (Aaron) and Joseph E. Janis; his sisters, Barbara Burrows of Hubbard, OH, Georgeann Foltz of Boardman, OH and Gloria Sanchez of Mexico Beach, FL; his sons-in-law, George Baker of Columbus, OH and Robert Brainard of Youngstown, OH; and his sisters-in-law, Ella Janis of Bremen, GA and Deborah Janis of Boardman, OH.. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material tributes take the form of contributions to Easter Seals of Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana Counties, 299 Edward Street, Youngstown, OH 44502 in memory of George.
