With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gerald Askew Sr. (Youngstown, Ohio), who passed away on September 25, 2025 at the age of 63. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Nathaniel W. Sr. Askew and Loris Askew; his daughter Angel Askew; and his grandparents, Ivory, Mayetta Jimerson, Sterling and Cleotha Askew.
He is survived by: his children, Latoya Gibbs (Willie) of Youngstown, Ohio and Gerald L. Askew, Jr. of Bronx; his siblings, Nathaniel W. Askew, Jr. (Nilda) of Myrtle Beach, SC and Linda D. Askew of North, SC; his uncle Willie Williams of Titusville, Florida; and his aunts, Patricia Hughes (Walter) of Columbus and Betty Askew of Youngstown, Ohio. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the L. E. Black, Phillips & Holden Funeral Home Inc. (1951 McGuffey Rd, Youngstown, OH 44505). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
