With sadness, we share the passing of James Ellis Fortune Sr. of Youngstown, Ohio. James, born on January 11, 1938, passed away on October 14, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his wife Beverly Ann Fortune (Mitchell); his son Kelly Fortune; his mother Ida Hunt; and his siblings, George Fortune, Elinore Hubbard and Erma Ogburn.
He is survived by: his son James "Jaime" Ellis Fortune Jr.; his granddaughters, Taylor Payne (Fortune) and Jordan Henry (Fortune); his great grandchildren, Addison Payne, Aubrey Payne, Amauria Payne and Aidyn Payne; and his sister Laura Charity (Fortune). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, adopted grandchildren, extended family members, friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Price Memorial AME Zion Church (920 Dryden Ave, Youngstown, OH 44505). A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
