He was predeceased by: his father David Mate; his stepfather Emmett Perkins; his brother David William Mate; his grandparents, Andrew, Mary Mate, Lillian and Milton Haffa; his uncles, Donald Haffa and Kenny McCoy; and his aunt Betty Bushnell (Howard).
He is survived by: his mother Carol Perkins of Youngstown; his children, Dana Mate of Struthers, Andrew Mate of Struthers, Kevin Mate of Youngstown and Lawrence Mate, Jr. of Youngstown; his siblings, Daniel Mate of Youngstown, John Mate of Youngstown, Damon Perkins of Youngstown, Emmett Perkins, Jr. of Youngstown and Robyn Carter (Michael) of Youngstown; his stepson Sean Ripple; his granddaughter Leilah Mate; his aunt Margaret McCoy (Jerry); and his godparents, Robert and Marilyn Haffa. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the McCauley Funeral Home (230 Broadway St, Youngstown, OH 44504). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations please be made to the family.
