He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Samuel J. Whitman and Georgia M. Matthews Whitman; his children, Lateka Whitman of Youngstown, Phillip D. Whitman II of Youngstown and Darnell R. Whitman of Cleveland; his siblings, Jackie McKoy (Kenneth) of Pennsylvania, Debra Greer of Pennsylvania and Gerald Whitman (Nancy) of Campbell; his brother-in-law Robert Peterson; and his sister Laverne Peterson. He was also cherished by nine grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends.
