Richard R. Makovec Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Richard R. Makovec (Youngstown, Ohio), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on June 20, 2025 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though Richard may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those Richard touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Makovec and Helen Makovec (Furman); and his in-laws, Walter and Anna Chmara (Labedz). He is survived by: his wife Irene Makovec (Chmara); and his grandson Nicholas Anthony Rolfi.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at the St. Matthias Church (915 Cornell St, Youngstown, OH 44502). A Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
The family requests that material donations be made to a charity of the individual's choice or to Our Lady of Sorrows Parish, St. Matthias Church in Youngstown.
