He was loved and cherished by many people including : his parents, Anna Carney (Kinney) and Patrick Carney; his siblings, John, Rita, Patrick, George Carney and Eleanore Nemeth; his former wife Margaret Prosser (Peggy); his children, Linda Handel (Robert), Robert Carney Jr. and Barbara Lysowski (Dean); his wife Ellen Barrett; his children, Rick Barrett, Lisa Pavlansky and Cathy Martin (Jim); his grandchildren, Julie Sardich (Todd), Megan Handel, Sean Lysowski (Rebecca), Katie Emler (Jon), Kelly Calcagni (Anthony), Nicole, Jenna, Lauren Pavlansky, Marisa and Stephanie Martin; his great grandchildren, Stella, Lily, Ethan Sardich, Carter, Declan, Nolan Lysowski, Brody, Brayden, Brynlee Calcagni and Landon Emler; and his caregivers, Debbie, Noel, Kat, Logan and Ryan.

Visitation was held on Saturday, September 23rd 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the St. Charles Church (7325 Westview Dr, Youngstown, OH 44512). A mass was held on Saturday, September 23rd 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
