He was predeceased by: his parents, William Frank Shanklin and Inez Shanklin (Duty); his sister Linda Lawrence; and his grandson Wiley White. He is survived by: his wife Gail Hart Muir; his child Chartelle Verdugo; his brother John Shanklin (Fay); his grandchildren, Kyle Tarrant, Lucas Tarrant, Elias Verdugo and Katy White; his great grandchild Sage Tarrant; and his pet Molly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pontotoc Literacy Coalition, the ECU Foundation, or Pontotoc Animal Welfare Society.
