He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil Clyde and Mary Hughes Martin; his former wife Joan Floyd; his wife Doris Martin; his sister Charlene McLaughlin; and his granddaughter Lori Lee Smith.
He is survived by: his children, Jim V. Martin, Jr. (Vickie), Debbra Smith (Hicks) and Kristi Byers (Mike); and his stepdaughters, Meredith Stephenson (Jon), Hilary Jones (Justin) and Scottie Edgar (Chris). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.
