He was predeceased by: his parents, Chester Dean and Rhoda May Mapes (Essex); his siblings, Betty Keeton, Roberta Story, Peggy Jean Hysinger and Richard Mapes; and his siblings-in-law, Nancy Case, Twyla Mapes, Ellie Welch, Wayne Keeton and Bob Case.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Lou of Alva; his sons, Jeff Mapes (Michelle) of Alva and Todd Mapes (Kim) of Arkansas; his siblings, Robert Mapes of Colorado and Rose Welch of Wichita; his grandchildren, Courtney Acker (Ryan) of Tulsa, Cathy King (JP) of Edmond, Audrey Mapes of Arkansas and Breanna Mapes (Adam) of Wichita; and his brother-in-law Johnny Barnes. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
