He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter John and Lois LaMae Gilbreath (Mattoon); and his brothers, Victor, Johnetta Gilbreath and Mark Gilbreath.

He is survived by: his wife Johnnie Sue Claborn; his children, Shannon (Randy Meshell) of Apache and Shane (Tonya Gilbreath) of Fletcher; his grandchildren, Sibella Meshell, Summer, Zack Wing, Lexi, Zach Sparks, Tatum Gilbreath (Grant Oliver) and Shauni Gilbreath; his stepson Brian (Tracy Ridley); his stepgrandchildren, Dillon, Sara Ridley, Garret, Allie Ridley and Serenity Ridley; and his sister-in-law Karen Gilbreath. He is also survived by 6 step great grandchildren.
