He was predeceased by: his parents, Alton Ray Short, Sr. and Odessa "Lavon" Creaton (Barnhill); his sister Lavona Martin; and his son Anthony Wayne Short. He is survived by: his brother Alton Short; his wife Adela Short; his son Alex Short (Michelle); his granddaughters, Abigail and Allison Short; and his mother-in-law Dolores Diaz. He is also survived by many brother and sister in laws.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Seaman First Class Billy Turner Veterans Cemetery, Ardmore, Oklahoma.
