He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Steger and Hulda Steger (Bokelheide); his son Jerry; his granddaughter Erin; and his sister Avis (Priest).

He is survived by: his wife Mary Ruth (Babe); his sons, Jay (Lana) and Daniel (Melissa); his daughter-in-law Sherry Steger; his daughter Sonja Jenner (Brian); and his sister Evelyn Herther (Herther). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and many wonderful friends.
