She was predeceased by: her parents, Merrell Alton Hawkins and Ela Lometa Smelser. She is survived by: her husband Bernard Woods; her sons, Bernie (Kelly) and Chad (Heather); her grandson Jackson; her daughter Lometa; her grandchild Teagan; her siblings, Joe Hawkins, Wayne, Alton, Ela Hawkins and LaNita Clark; and her pets, Muffin, Boomer and Fluffy Love. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.

In later years she was her mother's caregiver when she was battling Alzheimer's, all while working for Hertz Data Center for nearly 38 years before retiring in 2007.
