We announce the death of Georgie May Tyson (Bixby, Oklahoma), who passed away on October 18, 2026, at the age of 102. Georgie will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Georgie will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Georgie will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Georgie’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Elmer Porter and Velma May Porter (Hughes); her husband Melvin Tyson; and her grandson Shane Dougless. She is survived by: her children, Ron Churchill (Jan), Carolyn Byers (Michael) and Steven Churchill (Jamie). She is also survived by four siblings; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Verdigris First Baptist Church (25505 S 4110 Rd, Claremore, OK 74019). A graveside service was held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Morrison Cemetery.
