She is survived by: her parents, Charles Nelson and Diane Nelson; her son Tytan; her husband Zach Smith; her child Mya Smith; her brother Ryan Nelson; her mother-in-law Anita Padilla Smith; and her siblings-in-law, Nathan Smith (Tara) and Chelsea Dunn (Brad).
In 2024, she received one of her proudest recognitions, being honored by the NASPA Foundation Board as a Pillar of the Profession.
