He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Alton and Georgie Fern Cheatwood (Powell); his sister Leta Cheatwood; and his nephew Shane Fisher. He is survived by: his children, Justin Waldrep (Andrea Baker), Chesley Cheatwood (Kayla Witt) and Christina McGuire (Bobby McGuire); and his siblings, Ted Cheatwood (Pat), Barbara Messer (Gene), Shirley Skaggs (Don), Beverly Timperley (Richard), Jessie Lenz, Brenda Cheatwood, Angela Winn (Don) and Tina Bass (Dink). He is also survived by six grandchildren; one great-grandson.
