She was predeceased by : her parents, Sarah Coker Hicks and Cheparney Ahfonoke Hicks (Buckeye Indian Baptist Church); her husband Arthur Powell; her siblings, Louise Burgess, Maggie Hill, Jesse Hicks, Wilson "Mekko" Hicks and Banson Hicks; and her grandson Steven.

She is survived by : her brother Hanson Hicks; and her children, Jeanette Martin (Roy Martin), Janet Hill, Sammy Hill (Gina Burgess), Soloman Hill (Cissie Hill), David Hill (Monica Hill) and Jesse "Echaswv" Powell (Karen McGirt). She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 30th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hutchins-Maples Matherly Funeral Home (119 N Chestnut St, Bristow, OK 74010). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, May 1st 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Muscogee Creek Nation Dome (2950 Warrior Rd, Okmulgee, OK 74447).
