She was predeceased by: her father Elmer Ellis; her husband Dennis J. Downing; her mother Ruby Ashmore Ellis Lovelady; her stepfather Robert Lovelady (Gay); her sister Doris Ellis Jackson (Sequoyah Jackson); her nephews, Phillip and Jay Jackson; and her sister Francis Ellis Ziegler (Earl Ziegler).
She is survived by: her son Sequoyah Ellis Downing (Sharri); her granddaughters, Emily (Kevin O'Connor) and Abby Downing; her daughter Andrea Denise Downing Musgrave (Lance); and her grandchildren, Madison Musgrave (JR Richardson), Zachary (Una Musgrave) and Emma Musgrave. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
