With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan (Smith) Wheeler (Broken Bow, Oklahoma), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 6, 2025 at the age of 87. She was predeceased by: her parents, Vallie McNeal Smith and Moman Preston Smith; her husband Billy "Myrl" Wheeler; and her brother Earl Smith. She is survived by: her siblings, Don Smith of Idabel, Reba Bryant of Idabel and Mary Joyce Hawley; her children, Sarah (Terry Prater) of Broken Bow, Cathy (Gene Cockerham) of Idabel and Preston (Leisa Wheeler) of Idabel; her grandsons, Mark Baker (Cyne'Smith), Randall (Sandy Baker), Eli (Michaela Prater), Drew (Kelsey Prater), Koty (Kaitlin Wheeler) and Skyler (Hailey Wheeler); and her great grandchildren, Gareth Baker, Addison Christie, Shaylee, Chetley Baker, Jonah Price, Machenzie McClellan, Sarah Prater, Karity, Jazzlyn Prater, Colton and Cason Wheeler.
Visitation was held on Saturday, August 9th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bunch - Singleton Funeral Home Chapel (205 N Broadway St, Broken Bow, OK 74728). A funeral service was held on Sunday, August 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, August 10th 2025 at 3:43 PM at the Denison Cemetery.
