He was predeceased by: his parents, Riley James Patten and Geneva Ann Patten (Clesson); and his brothers, Larry Patten, Danny Patten and Gary Patten.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Patten of Clio, Michigan.; his children, Phillip Patten (Shelly) and Donna Olson (Preston); his brother Elwyn Patten; his grandchildren, Luke Olson (Nicole), Leah McVicker (Ian), Emily Hupka (Yuri), Brianna Patten and Allie Patten; and his great grandchildren, Leo Olson, Evie McVicker, Piper Olson, Maeve McVicker, Kit Hupka, Ivy Hupka and Camila McVicker. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
