He was predeceased by: his parents, Herb O'Dell and Rhoda O'Dell; and his siblings, Billie Jo Sweeney, Joyce Nelson and Dwight O'Dell.

He is survived by: his wife Janis Carr; his children, Michael Grice of Plano, TX and Shannon Mulkey (Daryl) of Calera; his grandchildren, Shelby Grice of Willis, TX and Conner Mulkey (Jill) of Tulsa; his great grandchild Harrison Mulkey of Tulsa; his brother Frank; and his sisters-in-law, Shirley O'Dell of Lake Kiowa, TX, Nell Kimbrough and Linda Harrison of Calera.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association in Herby's name.
