He was predeceased by : his parents, Buford Garland and Laura Lynn Pearson Johnston; his sister Deborah Lynn Johnston Myers of Amarillo; his step-siblings, Bradford Garland Johnston and Nina Mae Johnston Green; and his step-mother Cordie May Kinslow Johnston.

He is survived by : his wife Rebecca G. Johnson; his daughter Candi D. Johnston of Calera; and his step-brother Charles Dean Johnston of Denison, Texas..
