He was predeceased by: his parents, Hugh Burton and Viola Burton; his wife Loretta Burton; his son Steven Burton, Sr.; his sister Loretta Jo "Snookie"; his brother-in-law Carl Fancher; and his in-laws, Everett and Xelpho Cox.
He is survived by: his sons, David Burton and Barry Burton (Leigh Ann); his daughter-in-law Robin Burton; his grandchildren, Jennifer Burton, Linsey Reynolds (Bert), Ashley Foster (Garrett), Whitney Sikes (Jeff), Steven Burton, Jr. (Sheri), Courtney Burton, Veronica Roberts and Ronald Roberts; and his great grandchildren, Mallory, Ella Burton, Samuel Sikes, Zane, Briggs Burton, Emmerson, Creed, Sloane Foster and Liam Owings.
