He was predeceased by: his parents, John Auyer Kirkland and Nelda Lee Kirkland (Cash); his daughter Kristin Noelle Kirkland; his siblings, John Jr., Harry, Robin Kirkland and Vivian Clements; and his close friend Wilkinson.

He is survived by: his wife Pat Kirkland; his children, Kevin Lee Kirkland (Laura), Kimberly Dawn Morris (Brian), Kory Slade Kirkland (Elizabeth) and Kody Shane Kirkland; his grandchildren, Karrington Felder (J. D.), Kaylee Morris and Kade Kirkland; his stepgrandchildren, Ryan Hawkins and Cassie Smith; and his siblings, Burl Kirkland, Kenneth Kirkland (Rita) and Nelda Ashmore. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Eventually, Parkinson's Disease and Congestive Heart Failure made simple tasks difficult, but he fought to stay strong.
