He was predeceased by: his parents, Elva Dupree Smith and Paul Nolton Smith; his wife Beverly; his son Eric J. Smith; and his siblings, Dorothy Smith, Allen Smith and Patsy Densmore.
He is survived by: his friend Ronnie Jones; his sons, Mike Smith (Cindy) of Tulsa and Pat Smith (Linda) of Broken Arrow; his stepson Jason Tanner of Claremore; his brother Clarence Peterson of Pineville, Louisiana; and his brother-in-law Gene Densmore of Katy, Texas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews; a host of friends; and five special caregivers.
Viewing was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Rice Funeral Service (631 E Will Rogers Blvd, Claremore, OK 74017). A celebration of life was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the New Hope Church of God (1904 N Sioux Ave, Claremore, OK 74017).
