He was predeceased by: his parents, John Emmitt and Beulah Blen Whitfield; his former wife Carole Sue Whitfield (Wheelis); his siblings, Ina Lillie (Lawrence E.), Ella Blen (William D.), Darlene Estelle (Glen A.), Joyce Dee, John Emmitt (Sheila) and Harry Lee (Jane); and his brothers-in-law, Jerry Gregory (Mary), Darrell Gregory (Joyce), Eddie Gregory (Vicki) and Dick Gregory.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Kay Whitfield (Gregory); his daughters, Lori Ann Colbart, Jeri Lynn Bard and Diana Kay Kuykendall; his stepsons, Rhett James Cummings and Gregory Wade Cummings; his sister Carol Lynn Erickson (Jerry L.); his children-in-law, Michael Lee Colbart, Terry Jack Bard, Kevin Pierce Kuykendall, Tonya Rene Cummings and Arlena Lyneve Cummings; and his sister-in-law Danielle Robbins Gregory. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews.
