He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Grant Barthell, Sr. and Billie Long Mann (Mann); his siblings, Charles Grant Barthell Jr. and Mary Charlotte Barthell; and his son Robert Gene Barthell.
He is survived by: his wife Marcella Mae Kost Barthell (Sally); his son James Forrest Barthell Jr. (Connie Jean Barthell) of Flower Mound, Texas; his grandchildren, Chris Barthell of Flower Mound, Texas, Sarah Jean Coester of Mesa, Arizona, Laura Mae (Tanner Mahan) of Highland Village, Texas, Taylor Forrest Barthell of East Hampton, Connecticut and Dylan Gene Barthell of East Hampton, Connecticut; and his great grandchildren, Jaymie, Cadence, Ava Belle, Liam and Ronan.
