He was predeceased by: his parents, George "Buster" Washington and Betty Pearl Newton (Morton); and his brother Jim Newton. He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Shelton; his daughter Robin; his son-in-law Chris Miller of Decatur, Texas; his granddaughter Avery Miller-Hakanson (Seth) of Decatur, TX.; and his brothers, Val Ray (Darla Newton) and Gary (Frances Newton). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
