She was predeceased by : her parents, Albert Thompson and Willie Edith Thompson (Lawler); her former life partner Floyd Payne; her children, Patricia Joy Smith and Gerald W. Payne; her husband Nathaniel Whitehead; and her siblings, Newell Thompson, Bessie Riney, Elbert Thompson, Albert Thompson Jr., Orville Thompson, Bernice Estelle and Wilbert Thompson.

She is survived by : her son Kevin L. Payne (Debbie) of Duncan. She is also survived by six grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
