He was predeceased by: his mother Gloria Varela (Campos). He is survived by: his father Rigoberto Varela, Sr.; his siblings, Samuel Varela, Marisol Sanchez and Alejandra Crispin; and his children, Alejandra McKinney, Daniela Varela, Gloria Varela, Elisa Victoria Varela and Rigoberto Varela, III.
