It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Papa Doug Smith of Durant, Oklahoma, who passed away on August 9, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Mildred Pauline (Norris) and Heman LT Smith; his wife Diane Smith; his siblings, Lydia Vinyard, Sandra Marsh, Rita Sue Smith, Herman Smith, Harvey Smith, Raymond Smith, Howard Smith and Dennis Smith; his daughter Theresa Smith; his great grandchild Joe Don Minyard; and his former wife Mary Smith.

He is survived by: his children, Sue Rhinehart of Peggs, Darla Dickerson (David) of Durant, Misti Smith of Blue, Milly Smith (Albert Gill), Lilly Waler (Bobby) of Oklahoma City, Christina Merritt, Claud "Tubby" Smith of Bennington, William "Bubba" Smith (Heather) of Durant, Josh Merritt and Jason Merritt; his grandchildren, Darla, Ronald, Johnny Lee, Johnna, Frankie, Jimmie, Andy, Micah, Lexy, Amanda Riley, Ashleigh, Doug, Adalina, Aynzlee, Aaron, Jacob, Libby of Maverick, J. W., Pai Pai, Tyler, Charis, Jacobi, Lyla and Corbin; and his siblings, Bo Smith (Karen) of Durant, Pauline Smith of Durant and Linda Wright (Carson) of Bennington. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, as well as other extended family.
