He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Friesen and Helen McCracken Friesen; and his brothers, Richard and Jack Friesen. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Friesen; his daughters, Kara (Rich Foster) and Kela (James Baird); his grandchildren, Emma, Will Philbrick, Allie, Luke Dollar, Sara, Jack Smith, Jack Baird and Finley Foster; and his great grandchild Alexandra Dollar.
