James Albert Hautz Obituary
James Albert Hautz, 78, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 19, 2025, at his home in Edmond, OK, alongside the love of his life.
James (“Jim”) grew up in Phoenix, AZ, graduating from Carl Hayden High School in 1965. He was a proud veteran, serving his country, both in the US. Army and Air Force, during the Vietnam War. He was a faithful man and a life-long learner, passionately engaged in the world in many aspects, particularly politics. He loved to spend his time with people, whether family or strangers, and tinkering with whatever little fix-it projects he could get his thrifty hands on.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years (Diana), their four children (Samantha, Kimberly, Jimmi and Barry), eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren (including one on the way), and his sisters Florence and Mary. He is preceded in death by his father John, mother Francis, and brother John.
Known for his kind and generous heart, Jim saw the best in everyone. He remembered names and made people feel welcome. He rooted for the common man, from all walks of life, and believed we’re all in this together. He was captivated by the young and curious minds around him and believed the path to a fulfilling life was via a commitment to education, love, and voting. He was a jokester and approached life’s inevitable hardships with levity.
Jim will be laid to rest, in a private service, at Resthaven Park Cemetery, in Glendale, AZ on July 29th, 2025. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Michael J.
