We announce the death of Shirley Long of Edmond, Oklahoma, who passed away on August 14, 2026, at the age of 87. Shirley will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. She was predeceased by: her parents, Geraldine I. Clarkson (Telford) and Clifford B. Clarkson; and her siblings, Margaret Faye Percefull and Ralph Clarkson. She is survived by: her son William Earl Long, Jr.; her daughter-in-law Janet A. Long; her grandchildren, William Earl Long, III (Caroline Grace Estes) and Kathryn Anne Reta (Joseph Michael Reta); her great grandchild Adeline Anne Reta; her granddaughter Rosemary May Reta; her daughter Geri Susan Mentzer (Long); her son-in-law William D. Mentzer; her granddaughter Megan Marie Mentzer (Chinyere Maria Neal); her friend Judy Mascho; and her close friends, Verda McDonald and Mary Trent.
Shirley's family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to her daughter Geri Mentzer's team who will be participating in the OKC Walk to End Alzheimer's through the Alzheimer's Association. 100% of any donations will be given to the Alzheimer's Association.
