He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Bird and Marion Bird. He is survived by: his wife Nancy (Marnie); his children, Shawna Nicole, Marlena Dawn and Lance James Bland; and his grandchild Quinn Elise.

In his memory, donations can be made to the Angelman Syndrome Foundation, which will be used to fund research to find a cure for Angelman Syndrome.
