He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Melton and Virginia Melton (Jenny); his brother John Clay Melton; and his nephews, James Daniel and Nicholas.

He is survived by: his brothers, Jim and Don; and his sons, Earl Lusk Melton and Bryan Mark Edward Melton.
