He was predeceased by: his parents, Ray Lee and Helen Wichert. He is survived by: his wife DeeAnn; his children, Erica Mooers (Richard) of Mustang and Neil Wichert (Demi Suitor) of Enid; his granddaughters, Zoey and Lexi; and his siblings, Daryl Wichert (Gen) of Fairview and Annette Austin of Edmond.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in James's may be made to Hospice Circle of Love or FMBC-Men's Fellowship, with Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home as serving as custodian of the funds.
