He was predeceased by : his parents, Forest Mellott and Ora Mellott (Johnston); his son Jimmy Mellott; and his brothers, Bobby, Jack and Frank Mellott.

He is survived by : his wife Rachel Tatro; his children, Bobby Mellott (Marnie) of Harper, KS, Carolyn McClaflin (Dallas) of Kingman, KS, Tommy Mellott (Angela) of Springdale, AR, Kim Ryel (Glen) of Enid and Kip Strate (Kris) of Rose Hill, KS; his grandchildren, Michael, Melissa, Tim, Kellie, Julie, Tori, Jarrod, Andrea, Gabriella, Daniella, Michelle, Hannah, Shauna, Jesse, Jake, Molly, Shelby and Shanae; and his sister Harriet Ward (Richard) of Chase, KS. He is also survived by 31 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, April 13th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel (2800 N Van Buren St, Enid, OK 73703).
