He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Edward "Abo" Abernethy and Mary Ruth Abernethy (Hill); his brother Sandy Abernethy; and his former wife Vickie Abernethy. He is survived by: his daughters, Jacquelyn Abernethy (Rodney Wise) and Jamie Sunderland (Erik) of Enid; his grandchildren, Eli Underwood of Enid, Madison Underwood (Hannah Jolley) of Enid, Paityn Abernethy of Enid, Khloe Krejci of Enid and Paxton Sunderland of Enid; his brother John Thomas Abernethy of Enid; his sister-in-law Anne Abernethy of Enid; his nieces, Sarah Mitzel (Jason) of Virginia and Amy Peterson (Brandon) of South Carolina; and his nephew David Abernethy (Summer) of Oklahoma City. He is also survived by several great nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends.
